Bounds Green Window Show is a community exhibition, displayed in the windows of houses and businesses across our area each winter. The Window Show lights up our streets with colour and creativity at a dark time of year and is a moment to focus on and explore our neighbourhood.
Bounds Green Window Show is organised by a small group of local residents who think the area has a lot to shout about! We want to celebrate and strengthen our community by:
Communicating through creativity — In this small corner of a fast-paced city, we want to use creativity to engage and delight our neighbours.
Exploring beyond our doorsteps — Our diverse and vibrant neighbourhood is in flux; shaped by regeneration, gentrification, a growing population and a booming city. This exhibition aims to help us get out, explore and enjoy our changing area.
Telling everyone who we are — Bounds Green is in the borderlands, straddling two London boroughs, in the crook of the North Circular road. This project will assert the strong identity of this area, both to ourselves and to commuters passing through.
The format of the Show is inspired by the magical Window Wonderland walking trails, created by local communities nationwide and internationally. We’ve also been inspired by fantastic UK projects in which artists have helped communities to explore and express themselves, from ‘I Wish To Communicate With You’, which lit up a Hull housing estate, to the bright banners of ‘Spectres of Modernism’, created by artists to draw attention to a London estate under threat.
